All clients are required to complete and sign the registration form.  All your data is confidential and will not be shared with any third party.

Please inform us of any changes in your pet’s health or temperament or your personal details to allow us to continue to provide a service tailored to your pet’s need’s.

Our first concern is the welfare of your pet. It is a client’s responsibility to ensure that their dog is fit and healthy, and must notify us of any issues prior to their appointment.  Grooming of sick or elderly dogs is entirely at the owner’s risk.  Grooming may expose underlying skin or health problems that we cannot be held liable for.  Whilst every care and attention is given to your dog they are accepted at your own risk. 

Mama Lina Dog Grooming requires at least 24 hours notice for cancellations.  This will avoid an additional charge on the following appointment. No-Shows will be required to pay 100% of the grooming fee they’ve missed. Any dogs arriving late will have to be rebooked (15 minutes maximum lateness). Only one client is allowed at the salon at any time. Uncollected dogs will be charged a sitting fee as this may result in the next client having to be postponed or even cancelled.

All dogs must arrive thoroughly brushed/combed out.  We will try our best to maintain the desired style but any knotted or matted coats will be clipped short.  Dogs requiring extensive extra work may incur an extra charge.

De-matting will be undertaken in compliance with The Animal Welfare Act 2006 (clause 5- Animals are to be protected from pain, injury and suffering).  Therefore, de-matting during a routine groom is limited to a maximum of 15 minutes and is only possible if the matting is minimal.  For severely matted coats where de-matting isn’t possible, the only humane way to deal with this will be to completely shave off the coat by clipping.  In the event that your pet’s coat needs to be clipped down to release it from matting or coat neglect, Mama Lina will ask the owner to sign a Matted Dog Release Form and will not be liable for any post-grooming effects of this procedure, which is not without risk.
You will be given an estimate of how long de-matting is likely to take and an estimated cost for the procedure.  A shave-down consumes significantly more time, labour, product & tool/equipment wear and tear than a routine trim, and therefore will incur an extra charge.  All shave-down costs are payable in full at the time you collect your pet.

I politely request that clients notify me if their dog has been unwell with sickness or diarrhoea in the week prior to the appointment as I will need to consider whether there is a health risk to me or other dogs coming to the salon.

At the time of the grooming appointment all dogs are required to be up to date with their vaccinations and flea/tick and worming treatments and be fit and healthy to the best of your knowledge.  If you think or know that your dog has fleas, do not bring your pet to the salon.  You must treat them at home before booking an appointment.  To avoid health risks for other clients I will refuse to groom dogs that are infested with fleas.  I also request that flea treatments are applied at least 7 days prior to the grooming appointment as the toxins contained in the treatments continue to post a risk for groomers during this period due to the intensive handling of the dog.

Customers accept that if their dog is hurt or becomes ill during the grooming appointment, Mama Lina has permission to call or take the dog to the nearest vet.  The cost of any administered medication or advisable attention given by a vet and any expenses incurred by Mama Lina will be paid promptly by the owner unless the injury is a direct result of negligence by Mama Lina.  Mama Lina will not be held responsible for any sickness or injury caused by the dog to itself during grooming.

Mama Lina is not responsible for the accidental death of any dog from a pre-existing health condition or natural disasters (fire, storm, flood, etc.).  Mama Lina will not be held responsible for clipper burn or minor cuts resulting from the grooming of matted or neglected coats or for irritation caused by removing coat from pets possessing mild to severe skin allergy.

In bathing dogs, Mama Lina uses professional dog grooming shampoos and conditioners and will not be responsible for any skin allergies or irritations experienced by a dog.  Customers are responsible for bringing to the attention of Mama Lina any known allergies and specific products that need to be used in grooming their pet.

While Mama Lina will make every effort to groom dogs without causing them stress, customers acknowledge that this may arise, for example where the coat is matted or the pet is elderly or not accustomed to being groomed.  Mama Lina will not be held responsible for any stressful effects grooming may have upon a dog.

There is ample off-street parking at Mama Lina, however customers acknowledge that Mama Lina is not responsible for their vehicle or its contents while on the premises.  Customers are also responsible for the safety of their pet outside of the salon.

Mama Lina reserves the right to charge additional fees for services considered to be over and above the norm whether this be required due to extra time to deal with matted coats, excess dirt or additional services requested by the customer.  Business expenses increase over time and therefore grooming fees are kept under constant review and are usually increased each January.

AGGRESSIVE & POORLY SOCIALISED DOGS: THE DANGEROUS DOGS ACT
I reserve the right to refuse to groom any pet at risk of harming me or itself. If your dog is accepted for grooming & displays aggression that I have not been informed of during its session, the groom will be terminated immediately.  You will be contacted to collect it.  The full starting price of the groom will be levied.
You must inform me prior to grooming if your dog has ever bitten or displayed aggression.  Failure to disclose this information may result in refusal of further services.
Your attention is drawn to the Dangerous Dogs Act, which holds owners liable for bites and injuries caused by their dogs.
