The full Doglyness grooming experience includes:
Each grooming session starts with a health check, looking for any common “dog” issues such as signs of allergies or eczema or any specific issues common to your dog’s breed. We’ll advise you quickly of anything that needs your (or your vet’s) attention.
Your dog will then be bathed using a professional certified organic and vegan shampoo and conditioner as necessary or requested.
Each dog is dried according to their breed and coat type, but also taking into account your dog’s temperament. Whilst being dried, the coat is brushed using the combs and brushes appropriate to your dog’s coat.
After being dried, your dog’s ears will be cleaned, nails clipped and sanitary areas tidy.
Finally, the dog will be styled, which could be a thorough brush out and tidy up or a full scissor trim or clip. It is largely up to you, but will of course depend on the condition of your dog upon arrival. Scissoring is a specialist technique needing an expert hand, shaping and sculpturing the coat into your desired style. Compared to clipping, scissoring is a time consuming procedure which can reflect in the price of the groom. This is ideal for curly coats, such as Poodles, Bichon Frise and crossbreeds. A “scissored” dog will need to be groomed every 3 – 4 weeks compared to a recommended 6-8 weeks for clipped dogs. All dogs will need to be brushed regularly between visits regardless of whether they are scissored or clipped.

Hand Stripping
Mama Lina offers this specialist grooming service for wire haired coats plus other breeds where this type of grooming is suitable. Hand stripping is the process of removing dead hair by hand and is a better option than clipping (which can damage the coat), although can be time-consuming which is reflected in the price. This process maintains the natural texture and colour of the coat. As hand stripping will not be appropriate for every dog, it is recommended to consult your groomer before choosing this service. If you would like to discuss this further, please give me a call.
Puppy/Young Dog Grooming
Introducing your new puppy to the grooming salon.
Grooming your dog from an early age will help them feel calm and relaxed in the salon for the rest of their life. They are more likely to consider the grooming experience as a normal part of life rather than a punishment.
Mama Lina offers a program for puppies that gradually introduces them to the grooming experience. If you would like to know more please give me a call or send me an email.
Elderly Dogs
As a dog ages it becomes less able to stand for long periods of time. It is therefore important to accommodate your dog safely so that grooming is carried out without causing any harm. I will discuss with you what the options are at the outset taking into account any health issues and my knowledge of the dog.
Dog Grooming Prices
As our dog grooming services are tailored for each individual dog, we do not advertise prices on the website, but can give you a quote either over the phone or in person at the salon.
Starting prices are for dogs that are used to being professionally groomed on a regular schedule (a MINIMUM of once per season depending on the breed) and whose coats are well maintained between professional grooms, being kept matt free by regular brushing or combing. You can reasonably expect to pay more than the starting price where more time, labour or product is required, such as in the following circumstances:
• Dogs with matted, poorly maintained and/or overgrown coats.
• Pets which are difficult to manage or uncooperative during grooming.
• Overweight pets or oversized for the breed standard.
• Timid, anxious or nervous pets, which require frequent breaks & may need special handling.
If we are unable to complete a groom due to behavioural problems or aggression you will be charged the starting price of the groom.
All costs are payable in full at the time you collect your pet.
